Well, it's Halloween 2003! My favorite holiday. But it really sneaked up on me this year. I'm not at all prepared. All I did was stock up on sweets for the lil' munchkins who come around begging. I think I will wear my good ole' backup costume to work. We'll see. Any plans? Nope! Just distribute cavity catalysts to the neighborhood rugrats. After that, who knows? Guess I'll start packing for my trip this weekend. [more]

Today went well. I skipped lunch at work again, but that was because we got a tour of the warehouse in Hialeah. It was incredible! Needless to say, I was quite impressed. So, in light of no lunch, I decided I can leave a little early, and I went to join Sean again at the track, and we bladed a lap. Windy day, too, but it's getting cooler! After that, I went to his place and we watched some TV. If this all sounds familiar, it's because something actually went according to plan for once! heh... Anway, it was a good day. On the way home, I could not believe how beautiful it was out. Pretty soon, I'll be opening my windows. I still think it is a wee bit too humid out to do that yet, especially with the chances of rain as of late. But Halloween is in two days, and that is typically the turning point of the weather. I am excited - this truly is my favorite time of year!

The laptop lid got loose again! I think this time it is the other hinge! What a pain! I'll prolly fix it later.. It is actually not as bad this time. I may fix it tonight, I can't just leave things like this lay... Ugh.. What a pain!

Well, today I had no real plans for after work. Perhaps mow the lawn. Well, work was good, as it was a very productive day. But, I had to work through lunch. So, after I was done, I decided to leave on time at 4:30 even though I did not show at 8. At that point, I called Sean and said we should go rollerblading today. Cool. So, I go home, since I needed shorts. Decided to stop at the bank and fix another bank error. Closed. Oh, well. Okay, go to the post mail box, since I never can check it with their (and my) new hours. Just missed it, closed. Dang. Woah, looks like it's gonna pour. Called Sean. Cancelled blading. Went home. Didn't mow lawn, was too dark and threatening of rain. Fine. Vegged at computer. Ah, well. I got to see a cool special on string theory. I love those good shows like Nova. After that, I watched the end of the Joe Schmoe Show. I hate shows like that, but they suck you in. I could not NOT watch it, but yet I'm glad it's over with, and I hope I don't get sucked into the next one like it. It is difficult enough keeping up with the 2 or 3 shows I do try to watch. In fact, I gotta watch Smallville tomorrow at Sean's since my ReplayTV recorded over the weekend re-play with a repeat, since Enterprise is on at the same time - and gotta do it before the new one records over it on his TiVo. So, tomorrow, gonna try that blading thing again (leave at a descent hour again, and ignore the bank, its closed anyway), then head over to his place and maybe do a double Smallville marathon. :) Woah, Halloween is like Friday! I'm not at all prepared! At least I went to Costco and got enough crap to fill the bowl for trick-or-treaters. It is actually nice to get them, since noone ever stopped by where I grew up since I lived on a busy street. Keepin' busy!

It is too early yet to abandon the A/C for windows, so my house remains climate controlled. When I am home, it is usually set to 77'. This yields 77' in the hallway where the thermometer is, and usually 78' downstairs by the entertainment center. The fan down there does a good job regulating (and the fan that is always on in the stairwell). Computer room - averages 81'. I plan on installing an attic fan in there to vent the heat. I will probably do this when it IS cool, so installation won't be too bad. My bedroom - 75'. In the morning, after the door has been closed a while, as low as 73'. Always right around there. And the strangest part is the constant relative humidity in the bedroom. It's been almost always 49% lately, and up to 52% after taking a shower. Almost clockwork. Well, at least the clock is.

Today was a nice, full day. Work was good today - and afterwards, I kept busy again. Went straight to the track for another lap of rollerblading. Only one - as it was pure dark when we finished. Next time, I bring lights! :) After that, I stopped at Dad's to see how he's doing with the kitchen. Of course, more hangups. Then, I went up to Boca to hang out with Mark. We went for a nice long walk. Then, I got home around 9:30ish. My feet hurt now. heh... But it's good. Tired now. I think I may sleep well tonight. Sorry I'm not too talkative tonight..

Well, another weekend rolls to a close. I'm going to try and get to sleep early, so I can function better at work. I am also hoping the time phase helps. I plan to go rollerblading again after work, which means I have to leave early (on time), necessitating my being there early (on time). Other than that, all is cool. I went to Dad's tonight and saw how well the kitchen is coming along. Tomorrow, he installs the countertops. The Corian glue and handling looks pretty interesting if you ask me... So, I will probably stop by there and see how it is going after blading as well. Also, today, I had installed more ropelight. This time in the kitchen, over and under the cabinets. I haven't quite finished, as the power cords are just draped over for now. I have to drill a hole and replace a one-outlet plug with a dual. That will happen later. But, it looks good. I think only the top is really necessary, but I can control them both independently. The photos are not that great, but it gets the point across... There are more things like this I want to do, but I'm just taking it one step at a time. I think the next thing should be the ceiling vent in the computer room to evacuate the heat. It's always at least 5' hotter in here than the rest of the house. It would probably be a job best for when the attic itself isn't an oven to work in. Well... Time to start another week! Next weekend: Holloween Horror Nights in Orlando! [album]

It's been a awhile since I've written anything here. Well, not too much to say really. Time is chuggin along. So far, it has been a rather relaxing weekend. The clocks just got set back to standarad time, thank goodness! It's not that I overly hate Daylight Savings Time as much as I would prefer they picked one or another, and not muck with changing the clocks around twice a year. Anyway.. Friday night, my computer checkup was cancelled, so I was free all night. I ended up joining some friends at The Cove restaurant in Deerfield Beach. I really like that place, except for the fact that it is nearly impossible to have a conversation over dinner. The noise is so loud that I am suprised we were able to even order dinner! But, it was still good. After dinner, we all met up at my place to watch The Matrix Reloaded. It was a good night. Today, I slept in - and the alarm woke me at noon, so I would not oversleep. Well, I snoozed the hell out of that, and slept until about 1:30 (broken time). After that point, I finally got out of bed, and found myself collapsed in my waterbed in the guest room for a few more hours. I must have been really tired. I remember, I was. I hope that I got it out of my system... I feel fine now - in fact a bit reluctant to go to bed already, but I must maintain the basic outline of a schedule if I am ever going to be able to keep it for work. It was nice to be able to sleep though, instead of being stuck at work, being tired like that. I can't wait for my health insurance to kick in, because I would really like to consult my doctor about this. I am also hoping that I got most of it out of my system, and I am going to try and actually get to sleep at a descent hour before work, so I can rule out "only 4 hours worth of sleep last night" as a cause. Anyway... Life goes on... But at least I am still feeling good about things. Not necessarily content with where I am - but more at terms with it. Whatever it is, I am much better off than where I was, so it is good. *smiles*

Today was BEAUTIFUL out! I mean, not just nice, and not just at night... All day was absolutely wonderful. This is the time of year I live for! I love it! I can't wait for it to become a little more permanemt, and the rain threat to stop so I can open my windows up. I mean, I didn't even get sweaty on the rollerblade track today! Although, I only went for one lap, it got dark rather quickly. I wonder what I'm going to do once Daylight Savings Crap is done with. Perhaps leave work at 4:30pm like I should, had I gotten there at 8 like I planned. :)

I certainly have been keeping busy. Monday was typical. Went to Dad's after work. I didn't stay too long though. After I got home, Mark called, and I went over to his place to hang out, and we went for a nice long walk. It was fun. Today, work, then planned to go rollerblading again. But I forgot my shorts - I was planning on stopping at the sporting store down the street to get some. But, Sean called and said it was raining down there, and that blading was off, so instead I got to go home, and look forward to some relaxation. Then, I get another call. Someone wanted me to hook up a wireless network in their house. So, I took down the information, and called this guy when I got home. Planned another trip to West Palm on Thursday (since tomorrow, I plan to try blading again) around 7ish, or however long it takes to get there from Miami! And Friday, I'm also booked to look at another computer that I probably can't help out too much. At least I am keeping busy, and not getting overly booked. I don't really like the stress of trying to handle too much. So this is doing pretty well. So far, all I need to really worry about is the sleep situation (which isn't getting any better lately). It was a good weekend. Good indeed. Friday night was a long night at work. I did not get out of work until 9pm. Something happened, and I needed to be around. So, anyway, after that, I went home, and actually felt a little lonely in the fact that I was too late to join in on the normal Friday night activities I usually do. But, as things worked out, they just went to dinner, and after that Sean and Brain came over to watch The Matrix. It was good. The next day, I got to sleep in. When I woke up, I started laundry, and got a call from Chris, who I hadn't seen in quite some time. He invites me over for lunch, so I get there, and Spec was also there. So, we had some fun with the computers (I brought my laptop), and BBQing lunch and dinner. We also watched "Down With Love". Don't ask me why. At least it was (interestingly) good. After Spec went home, I stayed behind until nearly 4am, and we got a chance to catch up and reminise over highschool. It was fun. Sunday, I woke up around Noon, and Dad wanted me to pick him up a few things at the Home Deopt. So, I do that, and head over to his place. Soon after that, I leave and pick up Sean, so we can take another crack at rollerblading. After that, I come home to a regime of yardwork, then start setting up a machine to backup my fileserver. It is still running now, and probably will be all night. But at least I do not plan to be, as I would like to get some sleep before I have to wake up and start the weekly grind all over again. Tomorrow looks busy already. Going to fix another computer after work already. So, I hope to get home before 9pm. We'll see... [more]

Today was another long day. Got another late start, left home at about 8. Decided to try I-95 to work. Well, got that idea out of my system! Getting to I-95 was a pain (took easiest route, Copans). I-95 was a pain. People can't drive, and too many trucks. Getting off was a pain, at SR916, Opa Locka Blvd. Going East on Opa Locka was a pain too. So, I have decided that the Turnpike/SR826 is a much better route. Only beforehand knowledge of a Turnpike block will have me take I-95 again. Anyway.. Work was work. Half boering and dull, trying to stay awake. Then I got stuff to do, and it was busy and fun. After work, I went straight to the bike path in Pompano Beach, and joined Sean for some rollerblading. Well, I didn't make it far before I realized I was NOT going to make it all the way around, so I turned back. He thought I was going to die, because going back was upwind, but that did not bother me. My blades were total crap. So, afterwards, we went to the Sports Authority to get new rollerblades. I got a nice pair on sale that fit well, and seem to work well. After that, Dad talked me into stopping by, so I did not get home until 10ish. When I got home, I had to try out the new blades. Went around the neighborhood for a while, just a short trip, but I know now that I think I got more of a workout doing the little blading I did at the track than I would have finishing it with these. These blades are awesome! They like roll and stuff! heh.. So, Sean said he wants to give it another try Saturday. I'm up for it! Time to try and sleep, so I'm not a total zombie tomorrow...

It is about time! Tonight, the temperature outside was only 73', and low humidity. Translation, a VERY nice day! I love this time of year, and this is why. It is so nice out. I went for a walk with Mark tonight, and it was very nice to get to where we walk to and sit and talk there without being all sweaty (from the muggy heat). I am typing this now on my laptop downstairs, watching Enterprise, with the windows open and it feels wonderful! I am so glad too, because I still feel great, and this just helps things more. So, even though I am sure it will get hot again probably as soon as tomorrow, I am enjoying it now, and looking forward to more of it soon.
Today, was another long day. Was tired this morning once again, and right after work, had to go up to West Palm Beach to fix some computer problems there. On the way home, I stopped to see Mark, and here I am now watching my shows and typing this up... Tomorrow, I was asked to take a look at another computer, but I think I am going to pass for another day. Tomorrow may end up being rollerblade day anyway. Marlins helped keep the Cub's curse, and the Sox got their chance to end it in one last game... And I also got news of a possible change of venue on the workfront... More news as that pans out. I'm feelin good tonight. Maybe a little lonely, but not alone. It is nice to smile for no reason.Entry: 47 Posted by kelly @ 11:56 PM ET [Link]
Just where does all the time go, anyway? The workweek is just soo packed. I just did not want to wake up this morning... I ended up leaving for work later than usual, and boy did that make traffic suck! So, I know not to let that happen again! That, and there was an accident on the 'pike before the toll plaza. Ah, well. I also ended up spending the rest of the day with Dad after work. He got the night off, and Mom was going to work, so he would be home alone himself otherwise. I just wish I wasn't soo tired...
Work is getting interesting.. Projects are starting, and things are getting done. I hope to get a better feel on weather or not this is going to be a lucrative endeavor, or I am just getting the short end of a stick (allbeit a stick pulling me out of the mud). Nonetheless, I am still in my excellent spirits. And, I tell you, it helps in daily life. I also got some wonderful news from a friend about wonderful things happening. It may be hard to believe, but I am very happy to hear that, and it just makes me feel all that much better myself! I need to buy some multivitamins. It's been too long since I've taken vitamin suppliments.. Maybe they will help. So far, I keep forgetting the little things like that and grabbing the winshield reflector for the truck to keep it cool (it is sitting right in the garage, but I keep forgetting to pick it up!) It's these little things I keep forgetting... Dang memory... heh... Whatever. Time once again to sleep...Entry: 46 Posted by kelly @ 01:05 AM ET [Link]

Mondays never cease to be full days. Work was pretty busy - passed the day really fast. Then, afterwards, I went straight to Dad's. Spent some time there with the parents, since Dad does not work on Mondays. Afterwards, I stop at Sean's to see how he is doing with his motherboard swapping. Fun fun fun there, eventually he will get it to work right. After that, I get home and start to work on the look of this site a little more. Then I get a call from Mark. He offered to help me carry my desk upstairs, and had a favor to ask. It's nice when people read my journal and know when I can use a hand. Thanks! Well, we put a junk computer together for him to test his software on. Hope it works for ya! After that, we watched "Kung Pow" on the bigscreen. It was fun. I enjoyed not having to spend the night alone again. Well, time to get some sleep so I won't be dead at work. Maybe another day this week, I will go rollerblading. We'll see. Can't wait for the temperature drops!

Another weekend come and gone. I guess I'm starting to get into the routine. That's when things usually start to go downhill. Routine is just that - routine. But I am hoping things end up staying interesting. Got things planned, like I hope this week after work sometime I can go rollerblading with Sean - get back into the groove of a little excercize. A new guy is starting tomorrow too, to replace the other admin who quit. We'll see how that goes too... As for the weekend, it was relaxing and restful. I got to do that wardriving session, fixed the laptop and saw a movie at Jeff's. Visit the parents, did laundry. I also got a haircut. I kinda needed it already. And yes, I know, horrible picture... Oh, well. I took it real quick with the webcam before bed. [more]Entry: 44 Posted by kelly @ 01:01 AM ET [Link]
Sunday, October 12, 2003
Well, today was a nice relaxing day. I woke up nice and late. Later than I expected to, but that's okay. Finished up with the waterbed, it's ready for use now. I should bring the desk back upstairs too. And I went over to Jeff's place to watch The Italian Job. Good movie... Also, I had brought my laptop for the "geek factor". heh... After the movie, I took the laptop apart, and finally fixed it. One of the hinges had popped loose. It's hard to describe how it works, but I fixed it with a pair of plyers, after having it all in pieces. But it works great now, and I have it all back together also. And with the new working battery, I am in pretty good shape. I need to come up with some way to strap my cell phone to the back of the lid so I can get an IR connection and be on the net anywhere. Either that, or get a data cable. I'm starting to get scared that the one single USB port on this thing is going to die. That would be a bad thing. Well, anyway, I am up much later than I wanted to be, so it's time for me to sign off and hit the sac. Tomorrow, I should get a haircut.

Tonight, some friends and I decided to go out Wardriving. It was Mark, Sean (SPC), Greg, and I. We drove around trying to see what's out there, and found a few networks. My setup, however, wasn't working very well at all. My wireless card blows. It works as it should, but it is no good for passive scanning. Oh, well. My USB adapter was useless as well. So, I played with my GPS (which died, dang AAA cells), and the internet. I was looking for better software, and was also IMing people from the highway. (Sean was driving). That was pretty fun. But the connection was spotty since I was in the back seat of a Lumina, with the laptop, and a screen that won't stay up. heh.. The hardest part was maintaining the IR connection from the cellphone to the laptop. I had wedged the phone between the driver's seat and head cushin. It worked. Hehe... Well, anyway, it was a good and fun night. I'm sure sean will make an journal entry out of it with photos. :) He took some. I still have no camera. And my sister still has my video camera. Ah, well.. It was still a fun night. Time for some sleepies!

The Weekend at last! ARGH! Oh, dear sweet weekend! The week has just been constant non-stop. Today I was exhausted all day. I know I did not get to bed as early as I'd like, but it wasn't that late, either. So what's the deal? Why so tired today? I dunno.. Well, it comes and goes in waves, and I'm not going to let it kill my chances of doing something interesting tonight. I still feel good in general, just somewhat fatigued. I keep myself separated at work, no IM, no logging into my home systems. If anything, I will purge the spambox. My email is getting so bad, that I am thinking about abandoning my primary email address that everyone knows... But, that's another project. There is one thing at work that's really irking me... Something that just will not work. But I only have access to half the system, so I cannot completely deal with it. Fun fun fun. We'll see. Some new guy is supposed to start on Monday too. We'll see... Tonight I may go Wardriving (searching for wireless access points). But, before any of that, I must get some nourishment - only had a Costco hotdog so far today. That, and deposit the first paycheck! YAY! It will feel like hammering the first plank of wood over the gaping hole in the roof! hehe... Anyway, I'm off to fire up the phones and see who is doing what.

Today was an interesting day. First off, the bosses were out of work today. Oh fun. hehe Well, anyway, it was a busy day, only I didn't exactly get anything accomplished. Just a lot of work eliminating possibilities. Ah, well... Tomorrow is another day. After work, I met up with Sean and Laethetia to go to the Panther's hockey game. I really like hockey. I had forgotten how much going to a game can be. Also, the presentation of the Star Spangled Banner at the beginning of the game was one of the most heartfelt I have ever experienced. We also met up with Phil and Fion there as well. It was fun convincing Tisha that the intermission between periods was "halftime". That made for more fun when "halftime" came again. :) They won 3-1. Not bad. Afterwards, Sean, Tisha, and I went to Denny's. It was a good night. Too bad I got home later than I would have wanted to be in bed. Ah, well. Speaking of which, it's past time to turn in.

I am starting to get into the groove of things for work. I'm trying to get to bed at a descent time as so I can be well rested for waking up early for work. At least I'm in bed at midnight. Still working on the getting to sleep part. But at least tonight I'm not as wired as normal. I should be able to pass to sleep soon enough. Work is interesting. I am liking it. Today I went home after work and got some stuff around the house done that I wanted to take care of. It is strange being so busy all the time, it leaves very little time to relax, yet I find when that time does come, I cannot relax. So, in that respect, I'm rather glad to be kept busy. Besides, it feels good to be getting things done, and feeling somewhat productive. Any more than sitting down to eat with a little TV, and maybe watching a show on TV, I just can't stand still. Geesh, I ate dinner in the kitchen tonight, standing in front of the sink watching the bigscreen from the kitchen. I didn't see the point in even bringing dinner to the TV table.
I've always really been like that. I can only relax when things are just the way they need to be, and nothing needs to be done. Hence, I don't relax. Well, I'll have to work on that. Have to work on a lot of things, but there is time. The future is infinite. [more] Entry: 39 Posted by kelly @ 01:18 AM ET [Link]

It has been a while since I have written. I've just been very busy lately. There are many thing I've wanted to write, but have not gotten around to it. I think I will start carrying my Pilot around to jot notes now and then. But anyway, despite being very busy, things have been going very well. I really like the new job, and the whole deal is working out rather well. In fact, the other admin has resigned, leaving me the only UNIX admin they have. I like this, because I get to clean up the machines my way. heh... This weekend has been busy as well. Cought up a bit on sleep, but then kept myself busy with yardwork like pulling stinkweed out of the tree and trimming. There are pleanty of other things to do, too, and I still haven't gotten around to rebuilding the waterbed. It dosen't take long, I just gotta DO it. :) Sunday, I helped Dad out around his place. He sure has let the yard go. I asked him to call and wake me around 10ish, he forgot. So, I went late, and he had me running all sorts of errands before I got to mow his lawn. I wanted to get home in time to get some stuff done, but that didn't happen. Oh, well. Later. Last night, I met a friend I knew online who was in town on business. That is always fun, to meet someone in person you talk to. heh.. Well, anyway, this was just another short little update on how things are, I need to get some rest, and write when I'm a little more rested. Perhaps I expand this journal to accept different types of posts, instead of just standard and expanded. Hmm.. an idea. :) Until then...

I've been pretty busy lately since I've started my new job. Work, I try to be there at 8am, as to avoid the later traffic, and so I can leave earlier. Yet so far, I've been pretty busy after work every day as well. Last night, I was too tired to write. Last night, after work, I came home and picked up the machine I was repairing, and dropped it back off up in Boynton Beach. I had stayed real late to listen in on a meeting that didn't really even have to do directly with my department, left at 7pm. After that, I stopped at Best Buy on the way home, and got dinner. A little TV then some internet, and next thing I know it's past 2am! Went to sleep I think sometime around 3. This 4 hours or less of sleep at night has got to change. I'm turning in early tonight. The next day, today, I went back to work. Work has been great! Sort of. At some times, I get bored, and as a result real sleepy. I have got to learn the systems so I can jump in and do something. I'm scheduled for training on the ticketing system on Monday. The drive is not all that bad, and it's a nice environment. Tonight, after work, I went to fix another computer too. Like I said, busy busy... For something I was not really looking all that forward to because of the long drive and crappy hours, I am still in amazingly good spirits over everything. My overall attitude is amazingly good, and things seem to be going well. I really like it this way. Even when things are still less-than-ideal, one's attitude towards life can make all the difference. I've even been eating apples at work lately. Me - FRUIT! heh.. Anyway.. If I could only get this sleep problem licked, I will be in pretty good shape to move forward - but this sleep situation has GOT to improve before it escalates into a real problem. But, like everything else in life, it's a work-in-progress. Until next time... (note: I'm pretty sure I mangled the hell out of this entry.. heh..)

Just had to say... Happy New Month! heh!
