My Archives: August 2003

Today I helped my dad. He needed to have a whole bunch of cabinets moved from a storage unit to his place to replace the kitchen. It's so much fun owning a pickup truck! heh... Well, despite his being late showing up, and the fact that it took three trips, it was still fun, and always a pleasure spending time with Dad. After that, he made me some lunch, then we started to work on replacing the brake pads on his truck. Somehow, this one went off with minimal complications (and less than 30 mosquito bites)! So, another day with dad. Never what's expected, always a pleasure. And he didn't even wake me this morning. Heh...

Well, the main point of this journal was supposed to be a multimedia journal. Rich with graphics, audio, and video - not so much a "diary". As I do tend to be a bit of a videobuff, I don't carry my camcorder around with me everywhere I go, but I did want to get a digital camera instead so I can snap images I found interesting. Well, economic constraints have made this somewhat difficult as of late, but I do own a small digital camera. The problem with it is... Well, it sucks. I was never happy with its quality, but I figured I would give it another shot. Although there is no zoom, and it eats batteries by just being there, i realized that the more light, the better it actually works. So, I brought it with me on my last trip to Miami, so I could get a shot at some of the street signs down there that I wanted to comment on. Fine... Took the shots while I was down there. Left the camera in the car after that, but I finally managed to remember to bring it in. So, on the way upstairs, I drop the thing in the kitchen and the batteries fly out. Figures. Pictures gone. Oh, well, guess it just wasn't meant to be. Eventually, I will figure out what I really want to do with this thing... Until then, you're stuck listening to me babble.

This weekend, I headed back on over to the West coast of FL, back to Clearwater. I love driving. I love trips. I love to see my friends. It was a good trip. Since I had an appointment in West Palm, I decided to take one of the other routes across the state. After my stop near Lantana and the 'pike, I headed North on US441, and over to Okeechobee from there. Then, I took SR70 the rest of the way over, through Arcadia. Always a nice drive, and a lot faster than backtracking to Alligator Alley. However, I was notified by my roommate that I had left the garage door open. (Did I? Thought I watched it close. Perhaps I was just too eager to leave. Shrug.) Anyway... This was more than just a little getaway. [more]

This entry is a little late... But here goes anyway... I was supposed to get a visitor this weekend. Did it work out as such? Of course not. Instead, plans changed and things were moved up to the weekend before that. During the course of the weekend, plans got a little fuzzy once again, and the weekend did not end until Thursday morning. Okay, okay, it turned into more of a week then a weekend! But it was a very insightful week... [more]

This last weekend, at the beginning of August, I got a much needed getaway from the everyday here. But now, it is over, and I find myself tired, yet very refreshed from this diversion from the norm. Unfortunately, no pictures were taken, again making the point of keeping a multimedia journal a bit moot. Perhaps, soon, I will be able to get that nice small digital camera so I can start taking photos to put here regularly. Until then, I hope to start using it more for less stunnig entries such as this, with no eye candy... Anyway, did I mention I was tired? Read on for the details... [more]
