bits and pieces
There are a few things I wanted to write about, but alas, they have fled my mind already. I hate that... I went to my parents' place after work to see how my Dad was doing painting the house. It is coming along good. I got a call from MYG on my way over there, and he wanted to go to Wal-Mart tonight. He said later though, so I waited for a call, but he just sent a text message I did not read until it was too late. Ah well. My Dad made a good dinner, and we watched one of my favorite movies, What Dreams May Come. My Mom had never seen it. I don't think she was too interested in it, though, because halfway through, all she could do was argue through it, and missed a lot of the plot. Just wonderful. Anyway.. When I got home, I realized my ReplayTV upstairs had a brainfart. Last night, I heard the harddrive freaking out, and today I noticed it didn't record my show today. The guide was blank! That only happens if it can't connect for over a week. I checked the messages, and there were messages about it not being able to connect dated in 2010! Stupid unit. I manually forcecd a reconnect - twice - and it took the date update and guide. Strange though. So, I went downstairs to watch the other show on the other Replay. As I was looking around in the kitchen for some munchies, I let out a loud and squealy giggle when I noticed the leftover (sauceless) pizza I had stashed in the microwave. I paused for a moment wondering what had just happened, and continued to heat up the cheesebread. As my laptop has been pissing me off with the keyboard lately, I took it out and poked around at it a bit. I could not get it to act up. So, I put it back, and it has been behaving since (sans the spacebar glitch, but that is manageable). That is why I am putting this down now. This morning, I let myself sleep in later than usual. After what work has put me through, I did not mind showing up an hour or two late. So, I got in a little extra sleep, combined with the early bedtime last night. It was awesome! heh.. So, when I went to get my towels out of the dryer, I noticed that the laundry room was incredibly dusty, and quite hot. The exhaust vent had fallen off the back of the dryer! UGH! I had to vaccuum up all the dust from in back, and there is a thin film of it all over the room. At least I had closed the door when it ran last night, which I usually do not do. I put it back on so the next time won't be so bad. This also reminded me of one of the nastiest things I've seen. A dryer that is in someone's kitchen, where there is no exhaust (was a condo in a hi-rise). The exhaust went into this contraption which blew into a pool of water which was supposed to catch as much fine lint as possible. It was disgusting. I didn't do that great of a job, and left the place stinking of laundry. (kind of what my laundry room smelled like this morning). And it did not help the heat situation either. Ah, well. If it were me, I would get a LONG tube or something and re-route it out the balcony door. That setup would be unacceptable to me. Anyway, I need to get some sleep. I don't plan to be too late to work tomorrow. Today I deserved, but I can't make tardiness a habit.
