Yuck!

I have been reminded why I never eat TV dinners. They suck. But I have a few in my freezer for certain occasions, such as today when I am out of most things I need to make a descent dinner. I need to go food shopping. heh.. Tonight, I think I had TV dinner number five or so in my life, and it was nasty. If for no other reason to have them, they are a good reminder that I am glad I have the skills to cook something descent - not that I ever bother to really cook for myself, but I at least prepare something better than what you can find in a box and nuke for 4 minutes. At least I got to make some use of the sink garbage disposal. I'm not used to having one, not having grown up with one. I ate most of the dinner, and had to have a chocolate nutter bar after to drown the aftertaste. I just hope it dosen't come back to haunt me later tonight. Speaking of which, I need to get some sleep tonight and maybe get the nightly average for the week over the 3-4 hour threashold. Sorry this was just a rant, but eh..

I get the big bags of chicken all the time for throwing in the oven and what not. It's the TV dinners that are nasty. Put the box in the nuke and consume. Bleck! I better go shopping today or tomorrow. Paycheck is sitting next to me on the desk! :) If I don't go shopping tonight, I'm stopping somewhere for dinner on the way home. I got a lot at home still, but not enough to make anything descent. (No buns for burgers/dogs, no milk, no pasta - yet pleanty of meat I don't want too eat as just meat.. bla bla bla...)

I am no connoisseur of frozen dinners but the one brand that seems to stand out in quality is Michelina's. The food is quite palatable (Particularly the linguini w/clams which is quite good) Most of the other brands as you have said are fair to nasty. Swanson's used to be a great frozen dinner 2 or 3 decades ago but the quality of the meats is atrocious nowadays. On a side note, there seems to be a consolidation in the frozen chicken market. It seems like Banquet and Tyson are the two big cheeses on the block that are left. I went to buy a box of family sized frozen fried chicken last week at Winn-Dixie and I could not find anything save for a GIGANTIC box of Banquet which was way too big (3 pounds!)
