The new job, and the new ways
Well, it is the second night of my working my new job. It really is interesting. This is exactly the kind of work I enjoy doing. Or at least it will be, once I get to jump in a little deeper. I'm still learning where things are at this point. So, I am really excited to be back to work doing something I enjoy once again. And it has been an entirely different point of view on life as well. Things are looking pretty good. Not spectacular, there is a lot that needs working on, but the outlook is good for a change. I don't know if I should go as far as to say that I am happy, but what I definately can say is I FEEL a lot happier than lately - and it is making all the difference! Off to bed - alarm screams at 6:15!
I am supposed to be in the office by 9am. The official company hours are 8am to 4:30pm. So, I have decided that since I am getting up early in the morning anyway, that I will go for the gusto and get in the office at 8am. This will allow me the leeway of facing the 7-8 traffic rather than the 8-9 traffic, and try to beat the 5pm bum rush home. Also, should anything come up, and I run a little late, I will have a much better chance at making it before 9. So, I am actually rather excited about it. Also, the ride itself is not quite as bad as I first imagined it would be. It is mostly turnpike. So I take the mainline turnpike until the end at the Golden Glades Interchange. Evil, that one is, EVIL I tell you. Plus, that toll booth is horrible, even with a SunPass. The bridge to SR826 East is not that bad, a straight thru, but it is ALWAYS slow. Then, the remainder of SR826 is not too bad East. Turn right on a backstreet, go a few blocks, and I am at the remote parking lot. That's where I park so I don't have to worry about getting a spot in the mud puddle. A 3 block walk later, and I'm in the building. They keep it freezing! I normally don't mind, but it's not good when you're exhausted and haven't eaten. So I may try some breakfast tomorrow morning first. I don't mind the walk when its not raining, or all puddles. It's good for me, and I like to walk.

Too bad the Tri-rail is on the west side of town. The Opa-Locka station is too far west and the Golden Glades interchange station is a little too far north (and west). A co-worker I used to work with in Boca who used to come up from Miami kept a 2nd jalopy car at the Boca station and used that as a shuttle to and from work. Good idea if you have a second car. I did the commute from Cypress Creek to Opa Locka station for two years which was nice but I had to get up earlier than driving. (Miami needs more express buses)
