  Towering Rack
New Datacluster
While I am still in my holding pattern waiting to hear about future employment, life does go on. I was asked by a friend of mine to help relocate his server from his current colocation facility, which is currently, and abrubtly, moving its datacenter to Miami and Atlanta, and in the process giving the boot to all its colocation customers. So, I agree, and we set out to retrieve his server, as well as the legendary tower who finally got an upgrade. This transition was relatively quick and painless. Pickup, dropoff, reconfigure, online. Just a few quirks in finding all the locations where new IPs needed to be specified, and a network that was not configured with the new IP range when first plugged in. No problem. Well, this was all fine and dandy, but back to the old datacenter, back in Davie. It is always sad to see a datacenter stripped down, serving no more. But what of all this wonderful equipment? Well, said friend made some phone calls, and was able to secure us a few racks as well as some nice APC2200 UPSs for a fair price. Most excellent! So, for my services of helping relocate a machine who was being promptly evicted, I get to upgrade the Asperwood datacluster with a new UPS and rack! Sometimes, some things do go right...
